7 day Woodfiring Workshop

Last summer I built a brand new woodkiln in beautiful Bancroft, Ontario for fellow artist Catherine Thomas - this fall, we are lighting her up!

This workshop is suitable for beginners and seasoned makers alike.
Join me for a firing of ‘Byrd’, a 75 cubic ft anagama style woodkiln built in 2025. Together we will gather for 7 days to glaze, load, and fire the kiln. We will have two rest days before returning to unload on the final day. For those sticking around during the cooling days, I will demo my making techniques, and take us on a field trip to nearby galleries and studios.

You will learn:
- glazing practices for a multi-day woodfiring
- wadding variations and tumble stacking techniques
- how to load a woodkiln for best ash/flame effects
- how to fire with wood!
- cold-working your pots post firing
- how to build small - large scale pieces using my coil and pinch technique

3 cubic ft kiln space (room for 10-20 pieces, dependant on size)
Use of studio tools and equipment
Two dinners, and snacks during the firing
